Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced the date for the referendum on the Voice to Parliament. On Saturday October 14, all Australians will be asked to vote Yes or No on this question:
“A Proposed Law: to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. Do you approve this proposed alteration?”

Three reasons to vote YES
Here are three reasons why Union Aid Abroad is standing with First Nations people in calling for a YES vote.
- A Voice to Parliament is one of the key reforms Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities have called for through the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
- It gives Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people an opportunity to give feedback on issues that affects them and their communities.
- Making the Voice part of the Constitution means it can’t be easily abolished by future governments. This protects the Voice to Parliament for many generations to come, irrespective of the governing party (no matter which party is in power).
