A solemn reminder for workers worldwide

According to the International Labour Organization one worker dies in the world every 15 seconds. That’s more people dying in work related incidents than in wars. World Health Organisation statistics show more than 100,000 people die each year from asbestos related diseases alone. We suspect these are only deaths that are reported as being linked to asbestos because in some countries, asbestos is not acknowledged as a threat.

International Day of Mourning for Workers who die on the job is a global day to remember those who didn’t come home from work one day.

Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA works in many countries where there is a strong need for better protections and laws about worker safety. These deaths are often preventable but occur because profit comes before people.
