Massive May for Union Aid Abroad activists in South Australia

The month of May was a busy time for South Australian Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA activists, with an international guest touring and the Terri Daktyl Memorial Dinner.

Starting at the beginning of the month, Adelaide played host to Union Aid Abroad Project Manager Assistant, Hana Abu Nahla.

Hana has worked on Union Aid Abroad projects in Gaza for more than eight years and was brought to Adelaide with the support of the South Australia May Day Committee to be involved in the Anna Stewart Memorial Program.

The Anna Stewart Memorial Program is an affirmative action program aimed at developing the skills, knowledge and confidence of women to empower them to be actively involved in their union, and community politics.

Hana was also the keynote speaker at the South Australia May Day dinner and received strong support when she shared her story of life in Gaza. Read Hana’s story.

Continuing with the spirit of global solidarity, the Union Aid Abroad activists held their eleventh annual Terri Daktyl Memorial Dinner on 31 May.

Traditionally well supported by the union community, more than 110 people attended and helped raise $6000 for projects in Vietnam.
