On the Thai-Myanmar border, women are building their collective power to build peace in their country and well-being in their communities in the face of growing militarisation and a precarious peace.
“By standing together across borders, we can make a better world” – that was the message that celebrated human rights activist Naw K’nyaw Paw delivered to Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA members and supporters in the 2019 Annual Dinner. Here, we present an excerpt from her keynote speech, in which she calls us to “work together to make a difference.”
At the 2019 Annual APHEDA Dinner, more than three hundred unionists, internationalists, and activists came together in Sydney to celebrate global solidarity! We heard our guest speaker, Naw K’nyaw Paw, give the keynote speech on “The Importance of Solidarity“.
In August this year, special guest speaker Naw K’nyaw Paw will be in Australia to speak about the struggle for justice for the Karen people, the fight for women’s rights in the refugee camps, the stories of Karen refugees along the Thai-Myanmar border, and the pursuit of peace and security in Myanmar.
