Webinar on Union Organising in Cambodia during COVID-19

Jul 8, 2020

On Wednesday 10th June, we were joined by Thorn Ath, President of the Cambodian Labor Confederation (CLC) in a special webinar and Q&A event!

The COVID-19 pandemic is fast shifting the economic landscape across the Global South. In the garment-producing countries like Cambodia, unions are campaigning to hold major brands to paying out current contracts, and the future of foreign investment looks grim.

Through the Coronavirus Solidarity Fund, Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA is working on the ground in Cambodia and further afield to support our global network of partner organisations as they mobilise to protect vulnerable communities from the health and economic crisis.

The Cambodian Labour Confederation (CLC) is an independent and democratic union with more than 110,000 members across a range of industries. Established in 2006, CLC’s vision is to promote a democratic society in Cambodia which values human rights, freedoms of association, equal rights between men and women, and core labor standards for all Cambodian workers through unions and associations. CLC affiliate unions are partners of Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA.

Solidarity in Times of Crisis

The health and economic crises born of the Coronavirus pandemic are hitting all of us, and it will hit hardest those already struggling for a dignified livelihood, those communities already fighting against injustice and exploitation.

Let’s stand together.

Let’s continue the long tradition of solidarity with communities living under poverty and oppression who are taking action to strengthen their public health, share life-saving information, and hold governments and corporations to account.
