We might not have a date for the next federal election yet, but one thing we do know is that it will be held amidst a backdrop of rising global tensions and massive cuts to international aid.
The question for votes is – will Australia follow Donald Trump’s lead or will we recommit to striving for a peaceful, prosperous world
Australia is one of the safest, healthiest, and most generous countries in the world.
Yet, our aid contribution is only 0.68% of the Federal Budget.
Global needs continue to rise including for health, education and support to humanitarian needs particularly as climate-induced disasters increase.
Despite our growing wealth, Australia is continuing to fall behind allocating our fair share.
We are calling on political parties and candidates to commit to an Australian Aid Budget of 1% of the overall federal budget.
It’s a moderate increase, that would make a world of difference.
