The ceasefire in Lebanon continues to falter in recent days. Israel renewed evacuation orders across its so-called ‘yellow line’, an area it has continued to occupy that accounts for 5.5% of Lebanese territory. It has begun systematically demolishing towns within this area.

Over the weekend, airstrikes killed at least 14 people and further strikes yesterday killed five, including three emergency workers.

The human cost is devastating. Lebanon’s health ministry reports that over 2,500 people have been killed in Israeli strikes since early March, including hundreds of women and children. Nearly 115,000 people are still sheltering in collective sites, and many others remain displaced or unable to return home due to ongoing restrictions in parts of the south. Many families are still in urgent need of humanitarian aid.

PWHO Steps Up: Solidarity in Action

With your generous support, the Palestinian Women’s Humanitarian Organisation (PWHO) has provided emergency relief to displaced families in Lebanon. Through our Emergency Appeal for Palestinian Refugees in Lebanon, we’ve raised $14,500 AUD so far. These funds have enabled PWHO to distribute 230 food parcels and women’s hygiene supplies to displaced families in Mar Elias and Shatilla refugee camps, offering a lifeline to those who have lost everything.

But the need is far from over. The bombing must stop, demolitions must cease and Israel must withdraw from Lebanese territory. With peace talks stalling and families displaced, the call for justice and humanitarian access grows louder. PWHO remains on the ground, but we need support to reach more people.
