Project Description

The Palestinian Women's Humanitarian Organisation is APHEDA’s oldest partner. The project supports refugees by providing early education for children, enabling women to work. It also offers classes for children with disabilities, primary school retention classes, sports for girls and boys, and peer education for women on women’s rights issues.

  • Lebanon: Education for refugee children amid crisis

    The crisis in Lebanon has only heightened the urgency of PWHO’s work. Today, the organisation is mobiliising emergency aid for camps affected by recent Israeli bombings in Beirut. For example, the Burj el Barajneh camp has been evacuated, with residents relocated to other camps and surrounding areas.

    Dr Olfat Mahmoud died at home on 24 September. She was a leading, and much-loved, advocate for the rights of Palestinians, women, refugees, children, and people with disabilities.
