Palestinian women in their farming cooperative at the Deir al Sudan village. Palestine, 2023.
We are so grateful! Cooperative power members awarded us $10.000 to develop the project ‘Solar power for women’s cooperative in Palestine’.
APHEDA activists made it happen
When a delegation of Australian trade unionists visited in August 2023, the women showed a demountable on the land they were using for shelter and food storage but requested solar power, so they are not dependent on paying for power through an Israeli power company. This will transform their cooperative and assist with labour-saving measures.
Thanks to everyone who voted for our project. For those who aren’t yet members of Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA, now is a great time to join.
What’s the project about
In partnership with the Palestinian organisation MA’AN Development Center, we have been implementing a project to build capacities of women’s cooperatives in food production and processing, supported by funds from the Australian government and Australian Education Union. One of the coops is an organic farming cooperative with 16 women in the village of Deir al Sudan, in the Ramallah district. The aims are Palestinian sovereignty over land and food, women’s economic and social empowerment, and resilience against the occupation.
