Garment workers in Cambodia are getting results. Nine factories have already signed collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) covering more than 12,000 workers.

Across Asia and the Pacific, where asbestos-containing materials are still manufactured and used, many types of workers are at risk. Women, migrant workers, informal workers, children, older people, and persons with disabilities are affected by asbestos exposure, often outside formal employment settings, including domestic and care environments, community infrastructure, and disaster response and recovery. 

Across the Pacific Islands, trade unions are joining forces to amplify their voice and power through the Pacific Island Council of Trade Unions (PICTU). Their mission is to stand in solidarity for workers’ rights, climate justice, and fair migration, because the challenges facing the region demand collective action.

Union Aid Abroad–APHEDA and the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) are deepening its commitment to international solidarity through the Partnerships for Decent Work in the Indo-Pacific.
